Caroline Guitar Company Haymaker Dynamic Drive Pedal

Details
The Caroline Guitar Company Haymaker is a truly dynamic and unique overdrive, hand built in Columbia, South Carolina. The reason this pedal is classed as a dynamic drive is due to it's 3 different modes, mode A is an open, uncompressed drive that lets you explore sounds based on small tube amps at the point of break up. Mode B has a slightly fuller sound, similar to a mid gain drive, mode C delivers a high gain sound to suit heavy rock tones.

Complete Control Over 3 Stages of Drive

The Haymaker is quite rightly catgeorised as a dynamic drive, it produces drive sounds that cover the whole spectrum, from warm light crunch to face melting fuzz. The pedal offers tone shaping in 3 different modes; A, B and C, mode A is a light, crunchy overdrive reminiscent of a tube amp on the break up. Mode B is a more standard overdrive that is open yet gain driven and mode C is a hot circuit that can be cranked to provide super hot punchy tones.

Cannonball, Haymaker or Wave Cannon MKII?

Trying to decipher which drive or distortion best suits your needs can be tough. The Cannonball and Wave Cannon MKII share very similar functionality and design, if you're looking for a pedal that has a 70s inspired hot drive sound with some unique mods then the Cannonball could be what you're after. The Wave Cannon MKII is very similar to the Cannonball but is overall more distorted, while you can get mid, warm crunch from this pedal it's main function is super hot, super loud drive. The Haymaker is maybe best suited to the more undecided gear lover, 3 modes of drive provide a wide range of gains that can suit various needs, at it's hottest, The Haymaker replicates a light setting on the Wave Cannon MKII or a mid/hot sound on a Cannonball.

Control Knob Functions

  • Volume (Top Left): The volume knob is self explanatory, it controls how loud the output signal is.
  • Punch (Top Right): The punch knob controls the amount of drive that is added to the signal, this dial is very responsive and depicts a punching hand to signify a haymaker punch.
  • Shape (Bottom Right): The shape knob sets the frequency response and overall grit in the signal.
  • Highs (Bottom Left:) The highs (AKA stacks) knob is a low pass filter to manage the amount of treble added to the output signal.
