10-year-old guitarist dubbed 'Mini Hendrix'
Ayla Gezmis, from Skellingthorpe, has become one of the youngest people ever in Britain to achieve a grade eight in electric guitar, earning her the nickname of 'Mini Hendrix' by her tutors.
This feat is even more amazing since Ayla only started playing the guitar two years ago because she was bored at home. She now wants to emulate her heroes such as AC/DC and become a lead guitarist.
Ayla said: "Not that many girls play the guitar, it's kind of a boy instrument, so I hope I can join a band and show that girls can play too. At the minute the only person I play with is Dan [Clark, guitar tutor], during lessons, but it is great fun when we just jam out."
The ten-year-old is just one of a host of talented musicians in the UK and follows on from Harvey Lin, who scooped the title of 'Young Pianist of the North' at an event in December.
Bracknell News reported that the nine-year-old beat off competition from entrants from the likes of China and Sweden.
