50 Cent guides Soulja through
50 Cent has helped guide Soulja Boy through his career.
US rapper Soulja Boy enjoyed a sudden rise to fame in 2007 when his single and 'Crank That', and its accompanying video - featuring the song's trademark dance - became an overnight sensation and produced a huge worldwide hit.
Since then he has become good friends with 50, who enjoyed a similarly meteoric rise to fame with 'In Da Club' earlier in the decade, and Soulja Boy told how the fellow rapper has helped him deal with the pressures of fame.
He told XXL Magazine: "Being black, with money, from the hood, struggles, and coming from nothing to something, of course you're going to share the common struggles. You going to have people hate. You're going to have people that change on you, and all that.
"So of course, watching 50, and him going through what he did, if there wasn't no 50 Cent, there would be no Soulja Boy. You know what I mean?"
50 said his respect was mutual adding: "If I had the wish to be another artist, just for right now, it would be Soulja Boy."
