Acoustic guitar player Bert Jansch has died
A founding member of the band Pentangle, Jansch was a celebrated folk star whose ability on the acoustic guitar was respected around the world.
He was a hugely influential guitar player, inspiring music stars like Graham Coxon from Blur, Pete Doherty, Jimmy Page and Johnny Marr, who used to play guitar in The Smiths.
Marr told BBC Radio 6: "He really was the king of the beatnik troubadours and no one ever tried to usurp that.
"As a person he exuded a secret wisdom. Getting to play with him...was an absolute privilege."
His time with Pentangle lasted six years, from 1967 to 1973, during which they produced their big hit Light Flight.
Black Swan, which was released in 2006, was his last studio album.
Speaking to the BBC, Pentangle Jacqui McShee said: "He will be so missed. We've got his music but I shall miss him as a friend."
A popular musician, he recorded music with Babyshambles and popped up last year at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival for a performance.
