Adam Yauch meditating against cancer
Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch wants fans to meditate with him to help beat cancer.
The 'Intergalactic' hitmakers were forced to put their latest album 'Hot Sauce Committee' on hold when Adam - also known as MCA - was diagnosed with a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node last year; and following surgery is making a good recovery, but is asking fans to join him in group meditation sessions aimed at battling cancer worldwide.
Adam, who is a practicing Buddhist, wrote in a statement: "A few friends and I are meditating at the same time twice a day. 9:30am and 6:30pm eastern standard time, for about an hour and half. We are picturing smashing apart all of the cancer cells in the world.
"We are visualizing taking the energy away from the cancer, and then sending it back at the cancer as lightning bolts that will break apart the DNA and RNA of the cells. If you have the time, please join us in whipping up this lightening storm. Mind over matter."
John Lennon's ex-wife Yoko Ono had previously confirmed on her blog she is supporting Adam and will be joining in with the meditation sessions.
Adam, 45, explained her role, saying: "Yoko will be joining the meditation by visualizing all of us dancing with joy to celebrate the world without cancer. All variations are welcome.
"I'll also be saying prayers for the earthquake victims in Tibet, so join in on that if you can too."
Beastie Boys are now hoping to release 'Hot Sauce Committee' and tour later this year.Posted on 21 Apr 2010 16:30 to category : Music News
