Adele: Huge crowds scare me
Adele has revealed that she has a fear of playing to huge crowds, which is so bad it prevents her from singing live at festivals or concert arenas.
The star, 23, who kept the celebrated Kate Bush from claiming the top spot of the album charts, said she was scared that if she did perform in front of a large crowd she would have an "anxiety attack", reported Q Magazine.
Known for her ability to play a range of music instruments, including the piano and celesta, Adele told the magazine that she would rather do "12 years at the Barfly" – which is a 250-seat capacity venue in London – than "one night at the O2".
She said: "I will not do festivals. The thought of an audience that big frightens the life out of me."
The popular singer will therefore not be performing at any of this year's summer festivals.
She added that her music didn't really suit big festivals as it was "too slow".
Adele's album 21 has now spent 16 weeks at number one in the UK charts. It is already the UK's biggest selling digital album of all time, knocking off Lady Gaga's The Fame.
