Aerosmith and Rage Against The Machine have been confirmed as headliners for this year's Download Festival.

Organisers of the event, which takes place at Donington Park on June 11th-13th 2010, had already confirmed one of the world's leading electric guitar bands, AC/DC, as the opening night headliners.

Aerosmith last headlined the event in 1994, when it was still known as the Monsters of Rock Festival, and will return this summer despite reports of unrest in the camp.

It was rumoured that singer Steven Tyler was on the verge of leaving, with some reports even suggesting that electric guitar player Joe Perry and the other band members were organising auditions for a replacement.

However, Tyler is now scheduled to appear with Aerosmith this summer.

Rage Against The Machine have been booked to top Saturday night's bill after their surprise Christmas number one hit, a re-release of their 1992 single Killing In the Name Of, took their popularity to new levels.

The Crooked Vultures, Motorhead and Stone Temple Pilots are among the other acts on the bill.
