Air guitar world record set

Music lovers at the Download festival have successfully set a record for the largest number of people playing the air guitar at the same time.

More than 400 people participated in the world record attempt, which was organised by computer game developer EA.

Christian Stevenson of Kerrang FM commented: "The crowd played their air guitars better than Eddie Van Halen."

He added that he would be delighted if the crowd were so enthusiastic at every future gig he attended, as they were "awesometacular".

However, one musical perfectionist told Newslite that "it was great out there, but the guy next to me was out of key".

Ace of Spades' air guitar credentials were enhanced back in 2001 when Queen's Brian May included the song on a compilation he put together called The Best Air Guitar Album In the World… Ever.

The album was advertised with a tagline saying that each copy came with a free air guitar, although some failed to get the joke when they complained that their CD did not contain any such item.
