Akai Pro have said that version 1.3 of the MPC software will have an improved workflow, redesigned plugin architecture and the return of SP1200 Ring mode.

Having recently released the MPC Studio, Akai bring users the latest update to the MPC software, a powerful DAW for MPC Renaissance and MPC Studio.

The main focus of the update centres around workflow and flexibility, with completely overhauled plugin architecture which now supports multi-timbral VST, AU plug ins and also allows access to the same plugin across multiple sequences.

New workflow features include a drag-and-drop function for sample folders and the addition or removal of sample chops just by double-clicking.

MPC Renaissance and MPC Studio users can also zoom in and out on their computer screen easily.

Dan Gill, Product Manager for Akai Professional MPC said, "This update brings the essential improvements that users have been asking for. We're listening and we're committed to making MPC software one of the most powerful and versatile DAWs available".

An exciting aspect of the update is the SP1200 Ring mode. Building upon the MPC60, MPC3000 and SP1200 Vintage Modes, it incorporates a classic trick where producers would bypass the SP1200's output jack filter.

This produces a dirty, gritty sound that Gill says "will come as a wake-up call to producers who've only been exposed to the more hi-fi sounds that are so prevalent today".

You can view our full range of Akai products here. Users can download the update from Akai Professional's expansions page.
