Alex Turner 'hoping for new guitar band to repeat Arctic Monkeys' success'
Alex Turner has said he is a hopeful a new electric guitar band can follow in the footsteps of Arctic Monkeys by turning "the charts upside down".
Speaking to NME, the lead singer of the indie group stated while guitar music appears to be in trouble at the moment, he is confident the early success of Arctic Monkeys can be repeated.
"Everyone thinks that the next big thing has got to sound really modern and new, but to get something that sounds fresh, it can just be three kids with guitars and not a lot else," he explained.
He added the Arctic Monkeys have moved on musically after the huge success of their debut record, meaning there is room for another band to follow the route they have taken.
"We'll never get that initial naivety back. You can't fake that thing, like what's on the first record," the electric guitar player noted.
Arctic Monkeys are due to release their fourth album Suck It and See on June 6th.
The first single taken from the record Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair will be available as a digital download from April 11th.Posted on 7 Apr 2011 09:49 to category : Instruments News
