Alice Cooper guitarist: Gibson SG was perfect for my style of play
Speaking to the Gibson Lifestyle blog, Bruce said the SG was "precisely the right guitar" for his style of play, which involves pressing down hard on the frets.
He said the model gave him the chance to perform in the manner he wanted to and went on to recall some of the different SGs he owned down the years.
"I remember my first SG, which had a single-coil black pickup. Later, I got an SG Special with two humbuckers and put my original single-coil pickups in that guitar. That gave it a really nice fat sound," said Bruce.
The guitar player helped to write or co-write some of Cooper's biggest hits, including School's Out, No More Mr Nice Guy and Be My Lover.
Bruce and the rest of the original group, who were together between 1971 and 1975, are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Other acts to be given the same honour this year include Neil Diamond, Tom Waits, Dr John and Darlene Love.
