Andrew Lloyd-Webber planning Abbey Road rescue
Music impresario Andrew Lloyd-Webber is planning to mount a rescue bid for the world-famous Abbey Road Studios, it has been revealed.
The studios are being sold off by EMI in an attempt to raise extra capital for the company, leading to fears that music may no longer be recorded there.
It is the venue where The Beatles recorded most of their songs and earlier this week electric guitar player Sir Paul McCartney stated that consortium of people associated with the Abbey Road studios were planning to bid for it.
A spokesman for Lloyd-Webber has now confirmed that he is ready to save the facility.
"He thinks it is vital that the studios are saved for the future of the music industry in the UK," it was said.
The spokesman added that the studios were close to Lloyd-Webber's heart, as he has "probably brought more musicians to record there than anyone else" due to its capacity to record large orchestras.Posted on 20 Feb 2010 09:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
