Arcade Fire album title meaning revealed
Fans of Canada-based indie folk band Arcade Fire wondering about the meaning behind the group's new album title have had their questions answered.
Speaking to the NPR Music radio station, electric guitar player and violinist Will and Win Butler said that the name of The Suburbs, which will be released in August, was inspired by the area they grew up in Houston, Texas.
According to NME.com, the pair are heavily influenced by artists such as Bob Dylan and Joe Strummer, who were also brought up in suburban settings, but the band wanted to talk about their real experiences.
Win said: "Will and I were born in a really small town in California, on the Nevada border. Maybe 50 people on the side of a mountain. We moved to the suburbs of Houston when we were young. Being a very young child, it's like going to Mars or something."
Those hoping to see the band this summer will be able to catch them at Oxegen in Ireland in July as well as Leeds and Reading Festivals in August.
