Arctic Monkeys and Libertines stars join supergroup
Members of the some of the UK's top indie bands have got together to record a new album for charity.
Recording under the name of The Bottletop Band, the supergroup includes Matt Helders - the man behind the drum kit in the Arctic Monkeys - and Libertines star Carl Barat, reports NME.
Gruff Rhys from the Super Furry Animals is also in the band, along with Drew McConnell, the bass guitar player in Babyshambles.
A host of other stars have also contributed to the project, including Reverend and the Makers, Tim Burgess and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
The Bottletop Band's first single Fall of Rome is to be released as a download tomorrow (December 10th 2010), while their debut album Dream Service is pencilled in to come out on April 11th next year.
To make the record, the British musicians joined up with a number of Brazilian stars in the studio.
The profits from the LP are to be handed over to various education and employment projects in Brazil, the UK and Africa.
It has been a busy end to the year for band member Barat, who has recently just finished a solo tour which included dates in Holland, Belgium, Germany and France.
