Avenged Sevenfold 'ready to take next step with temporary new drummer'
Avenged Sevenfold have said they are unlikely to add a new permanent member following the departure of Mike Portnoy from behind their drum kit.
It was announced earlier this month that Portnoy would be leaving the group after a short spell in the band, something which the group said had always been the plan.
The group said they are ready to take the "next step" in finding a new drummer for 2011 and beyond but said any appointment may be on a temporary basis.
Avenged Sevenfold have not had a permanent drummer since the death of original band member James Sullivan in 2009 and said they may never be ready to replace him fully.
"But if we do, it will only be with someone who is not only a brilliant drummer, but also someone we've gotten to know well on the road and off," a statement from the group explained.
They revealed they have already selected a temporary drummer for early next year, but did not reveal who has been given the role.
Avenged Sevenfold went on to thank Portnoy for his work while with the group, describing him as a brilliant producer, writer and drummer.Posted on 21 Dec 2010 13:37 to category : Instruments News
