BBC to mark anniversary of legendary studio
Modern-day electric guitar heroes are to follow in the footsteps of past legends as part of a special event organised by the BBC.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Maida Vale Studios, the location of many high profile radio sessions by acts including The Beatles, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix.
The milestone will be marked with a series of special live sessions for BBC Radio 1 and 2 by artists such as Snow Patrol and the Stereophonics.
Tim Davie, director of BBC Audio and Music, commented: "Our celebrations promise to offer listeners some exceptional live performances which are a fitting tribute to this legendary venue."
He added that the thousands of musicians who have passed through its doors have created some of the most memorable moments in the history of BBC Radio.
Many live sessions from Maida Vale have since been commercially released by acts such as Led Zeppelin, while The Beatles also released an album of BBC recordings in 1994.Posted on 2 Oct 2009 15:30 to category : Music News
