Beatles drummer letter to be auctioned
Dated August 12th, 1960, the letter was made in response to an invitation from the unknown drummer that had been put in the Liverpool Echo.
In the letter, McCartney writes: "We like to offer you an audition for the position of drummer in the group."
There was a condition though – they had to be available to play in Germany over a two-month period.
"You will, however, need to be free soon for a trip to Hamburg (expenses paid £18 per week for 2 months)," he wrote.
At the time of writing the letter, Pete Best was still the Beatles drummer. It would be another two years before Ringo Starr replaced him.
It is believed the letter, which was found at a car boot sale in Liverpool, will go for around £9,000.
