Bee Gee 'deserves medal' for Titanic task

Bee Gee Robin Gibb – who recently had cancer – "deserves a medal" after his work on a Titanic-themed piece, says his son.

"He kept going on against all odds. He has been every inch a professional and he deserves a medal for it. For him to come straight out of chemotherapy and into the studio is incredible," Gibb's son RJ has told the Sun newspaper.

RJ was involved in the creation of the symphony over two years, according to the article. Dad Robin sang songs such as Tragedy, How Deep is Your Love and Secret Love with the Bee Gees.

The pair's latest work is called The Titanic Requiem. It is "a piece of music that is meant to last for hundreds of years", says RJ.

The cruise liner has always interested Robin, the article states.

He also tells the paper that the symphony's workload could have had a positive impact when it came to his progress with cancer, which the piece says the singer's 'recovering' from.
