Beethoven revival for Proms
The full complement of symphonies has not made a Proms appearance for more than 60 years, it says.
The two month long event will see the nine-strong set of pieces penned by the man himself (1770 to 1827) played by the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, the BBC confirmed yesterday.
It also provided a more complete list of what people can expect to see at the Proms. Visitors to bbc.co.uk/proms can view it.
A place at a Prom would set people back only £5, said their director, Roger Wright.
He added that music lovers would also be able to watch on TV, listen on radios and take in events via the web.
"We once again look forward to welcoming the world's greatest artists to a festival where there is something for everyone to enjoy," he said.
The BBC has said that this year's planned London 2012 Games, as well as the forthcoming Jubilee of Elizabeth II, will be seen mirrored in the occasion.
This even includes a "pass the baton" themed concert it adds, which is presumably based on a relay race.
The Proms will begin on the 13th of July.
