Behringer EnergyXT 2.5 Plus commended in review
For traveling musicians, the ability to take all their recording projects and software on a USB stick that is compatible with various computer systems seems too good to be true.
The Behringer EnergyXT 2.5 Plus, has been created for this very purpose, and this month, Sound on Sound has been checking it out.
There are three different views for the main pane in the EnergyXT 2.5 window sequencer, mixer and modular and Sound on Sound noticed how the software should feel familiar to many musicians who have used recording software in the past.
The sequencer window acts as the arrange window, allowing simple manipulation of tracks with common tools such as solo, mute, addition of plug-ins, waveform editing and track automation available.
The mixer window unsurprisingly acts as the global mixer for all tracks.
Finally, the modular window allows the user to chain effects processors together.
In terms of using VST instruments with this software, the EnergyXT not only comes with a synthesizer and drum machine, but it also supports third party effects and instruments, giving further depth to its compatibility.
In summary, Sound On Sound have noted how checking compatibility is a must, older machines with USB 1.1 ports should be approached with caution, and recording directly to the USB drive should be avoided if possible.
However, with these points aside, the reviewer has noted how the software is easy to learn and use, and performs well...Simple musical ideas can be outlined rapidly Given the power and flexibility on offer, EnergyXT represents very good value for money.
