Beyonce makes Glastonbury Festival history
Beyonce made Glastonbury history last night as she brought to an end another successful year at the festival with a rock and roll performance to remember.
The R&B superstar was the first female to headline the Pyramid Stage for 20 years, to which she said: "A girl, a woman, a young lady has not headlined for 20 years. This is history for me."
With microphone firmly in hand Beyonce did this seminal moment justice by banging out a show that included her greatest hits as a solo star as well as music from her time with Destiny's Child.
Even better, she delivered her own impassioned cover versions of classic tunes from some of the biggest names in music, past and present.
This included Alanis Morissette's You Oughta Know, the Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams, Prince's Beautiful Ones and the Kings of Leon hit Sex on Fire.
She told the huge and ecstatic crowd: "I always wanted to be a rock star, and tonight we are all rock stars! I want to make beautiful memories and be free tonight."
Much to the pleasure of her loyal fans, Beyonce launched into a melody of Destiny's Child hits, from Independent Women to Say My Name and the big hit Survivor.
