Biffy Clyro intend to start work on their new album in December and release the record next year.

Speaking to the Daily Record, bass guitar player James Johnston said the Scottish trio hope to get into the studio over Christmas, when their busy touring schedule dies down.

"It is something we are really excited about," he told the newspaper.

"We have started doing a little bit of work, but until we are truly off the road we never really think about recording."

Biffy Clyro released their fifth long-player, Only Revolutions, to critical acclaim in November 2009. The record peaked at number eight on the UK album chart and has been nominated for the 2010 Mercury Prize.

Johnston admitted that the album's success will place a bit more pressure on the band, which also includes his brother Ben on drums and Simon Neil as lead vocalist and guitar player.

God & Satan, the sixth single from Only Revolutions, was released on Monday (August 23rd).
