Biffy Clyro speak out on X Factor cover
Ben Johnston, the man behind the drum kit in Biffy Clyro, has spoken out about having one of the band's songs covered by X Factor winner Matt Cardle.
The group's track Many of Horror has been released by Cardle under a new title of When We Collide and is the hot favourite to take the Christmas number one spot this weekend.
Speaking to the Undercover website, the drummer said it is likely X Factor supremo Simon Cowell discovered the song through his contacts in the British music industry and decided it would make a good fit for Cardle.
He said the fuss about the cover had been strange for the band, especially as they are currently out of the UK.
"The whole thing's a bit surreal, we think it's all quite funny," Johnston explained.
Biffy Clyro are currently on tour in Australia but are due to return to the UK for a special New Year's Eve show in Edinburgh, with support coming from The Charlatans and Billy Bragg.
In February 2011, the band are set to head out on the road in North America, with performances scheduled in Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Montreal and Toronto.
