Black Sabbath: We will go on
The English heavy metal band, who announced they had reformed, were responding to Bill Ward's warning that he would refuse to pick up his drum sticks unless he got a better deal.
According to the legendary drummer, negotiations about the band's new studio album and planned tour have fallen short of what is acceptable.
"We were saddened to hear...via Facebook that Bill declined publicly to participate in our current Black Sabbath plans," the band wrote on the social media website.
"We have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open... We are still in the UK with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll... See you at Download!!!"
Ward had said that he will not sign on to an "unreasonable contract" because he wants respect and recognition for his contribution to the band's success.
"If I'm replaced, I have to face you, the beloved Sabbath fans," he said.
"I hope you will not hold me responsible for the failure of an original Black Sabbath line-up as promoted."
