Blind piano tuner named third best musical brain in the UK
Brian Foster, from Crowborough, an avid listener of the BBC Radio 4's weekly music quiz Counterpoint, made it all the way to the final of the show, reported the Sussex Courier.
Contestants who appear on the show are tested on their knowledge of music across a wide range of categories including soundtrack trivia, pop songs and classical music.
Speaking to the newspaper, Mr Foster, 60, said: "I've had loads of people calling me up since, including some old school friends, which was lovely. I knew it was popular but I was amazed at how many people listen."
Blind from birth, he has been working as a piano tuner for over 40 years.
Although he has enjoyed his success he doesn't plan on going on the show again.
"I fear I'd lose in the first round so I'm going to quit while I'm sort of ahead," he added.
Counterpoint is broadcast every Monday afternoon, a spot it has occupied since 1998.
Originally hosted by Ned Sherrin and then Edward Seckerson, it is currently manned by Paul Gambaccini.
