Blink-182 to go 'folky' on new EP
The San Diego trio are in the midst of recording a follow-up to 2011's Neighborhoods, and plan on releasing the EP over the Christmas period. Barker has already said that the new material is already much better than the last release.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Barker explains that Neighborhoods was recorded remotely and this upcoming EP is "a hundred times better because we're all in a room together. There's some songs on there [Neighborhoods] that I love, but for the most part it was disconnected".
The 2011 record was the band's first LP in seven years following their hiatus in 2005 and following the split from major label Interscope Records, Barker believes that the band are going in a new direction.
Laughing while speaking of the 'folky' first track of the new EP, he told the source: "I had my electronic kit and I just played a straight drum pattern over it, and it sounded crazy. It changed the entire shape of the song."
No date has been confirmed for the new EP but it is expected to be released prior to the New Year.
