Blondie cover Beastie Boys
Blondie covered the Beastie Boys at Somerset House last night (13.07.11).
The iconic New Wave group - who were performing at the open-air London venue as part of the Somerset House Summer Series of concerts - performed 'Fight For Your Right (To Party)' between two of their most popular tracks of the evening, 'Rapture', and the closing 'One Way or Another'.
Singer Debbie Harry made it easy to forget she is now 66 years old with her energetic moves, enthusiastic chat with the crowd and impressive vocals in the 90-minute set, which combined their impressive back catalogue with eight tracks from their new album 'Panic of Girls'.
Despite the high presence of new material, the crowd remained enthusiastic throughout, with tracks such as 'What I Heard', 'Wipe off My Sweat' and 'Love Doesn't Frighten Me' fitting in well with the group's greatest hits, including 'Hanging On The Telephone', 'Maria', 'Call Me' and 'Atomic'.
After leaving the stage to rapturous applause following 'One Way of Another', the group swiftly returned for an encore of 'Rip Her To Shreds' and 'Heart of Glass'.
