Blondie release new studio album in style of a magazine
Blondie have released their new studio album in a very original way – in the style of a magazine.
Along with the now "traditional" digital version, Blondie fans are able to purchase a 'Fan Pack', which contains two bonus tracks, exclusive artwork, photos and a "spectacular" 132-page collector's edition magazine.
The album is available now and can be found in supermarkets, newsagents and record stores.
Lead singer Debbie Harry described it as "spanning a lot of styles and sentiments...a very strong album full of the spirit of Blondie. I have a good feeling about it."
This new recording is their first new album since 2003's The Curse of Blondie.
Entitled Panic of Girls, this release is the latest in a growing trend of creative marketing that is firing up the music industry. The Kaiser Chiefs recently released a "make your own" album, Lady Gaga's new album was selling for 99 cents for a limited time and Radiohead previously allowed fans to choose a price they thought was acceptable for their record.
Blondie came together in the late 70s in New York and are celebrated as one of the defining outfits of the late 70s new wave punk scene. Not only were they seen as pop innovators, but also as fashion icons with the "hippest clothes and the coolest hair".
