Blur release new track
Blur have recorded a new single together.
The band - who consist of Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree - have laid down a track together for the first time since 2003's 'Good Song' to help publicise Record Store Day, a music industry initiative to highlight the plight of music shops.
Frontman Damon - the mastermind behind Gorillaz - had been reluctant to record with Blur again but was soon swayed.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Initially, Damon had no intention of going back into the studio with Blur. He's been very busy with Gorillaz.
"But he couldn't resist seeing if the magic was still there. And it was. They've recorded a limited-edition seven-inch single which will be released a week tomorrow (17.04.10)."
Other acts releasing singles for Record Store Day include Lily Allen and The Beatles.
Each release will be limited to 1,000 copies and come in a vintage-style paper Parlophone house bag, available exclusively from independent record stores taking part in the event.
Parlophone president Miles Leonard said: "Parlophone and our artists recognise the importance of our indie stores and their contribution to not only our new and developing artists but to our catalogue as a whole.
"Being able to support this campaign with some great seven-inch releases is our way of thanking them for their continued support."Posted on 9 Apr 2010 10:00 to category : Music News
