Bonnie Tyler to fly UK flag at Eurovision Song Contest
The Welsh pop singer will perform the song Believe in Me at the event in Malmo, Sweden, on May 18th in front of an estimated television audience 120 million.
The 61-year-old said that she was "honoured" to be asked and that she would be giving "everything I've got for the UK". The track for the 58th Eurovision Song Contest was composed by American songwriter Desmond Child along with Lauren Christy and Christopher Braide.
"I am truly honoured and delighted to be able to represent my country at Eurovision, and especially with such a fabulous song," Tyler added.
The UK has struggled at Eurovision in recent years with Engelbert Humperdinck's Love Will Set You Free only scoring a paltry 12 points in 2012.
However, it was not the worst ever entry with 2003 being the ultimate low point for the UK when Liverpool duo Jemini scored nil points.
Denmark and Norway are this year's bookies favourites with the Danes being 4/1 to take home the title while the UK are out at an ambitious 29/1.
