Boris Johnson looks for musical talent
Aspiring guitar players and other musicians in London are being offered the chance to compete for a licence to busk on the tube.
Licences for busking on the London Underground network were first introduced seven years ago and about 240 people now have a licence to perform.
Another person could be set to join them after Mayor of London Boris Johnson called on the capital's most talented buskers to enter a new competition.
Prizes include a 12-month licence to busk on the London Underground network, as well as a live showcase, studio time and musical instruments.
Mr Johnson commented: "I'm searching for the finest act to join the myriad of talented musicians on the Underground."
He added that this is a "brilliant opportunity" for young guitar players and other musicians to gain live experience and get their songs heard.
This comes shortly after Mr Johnson confirmed that £250,000 is being invested in a scheme designed to get youngsters in London playing a musical instrument.Posted on 9 Mar 2010 14:46 to category : Instruments News
