Brass Day at Music for Youth festival hailed as success
The youngsters involved in the recent Brass Day at the National Festival of Music for Youth have been hailed by one of the event's organisers.
A total of 980 children took their musical instruments down to the Symphony Hall in Birmingham earlier this month (July 9th 2010) for the show, with 22 brass bands performing at the festival.
Lincoln Abbotts, chief executive of Music for Youth, told MI-Pro that it had been an "incredible day".
"The festival is one of the world's greatest youth music festivals, which demonstrates the breadth, innovation and pure talent that exists within young people's music-making in the UK," the organiser said.
There were 2,000 spectators watching the live performances on Brass Day, which were carried out by people aged between seven and 21.
Music for Youth was founded back in 1970 and encourages young people to play their musical instruments in a non-competitive and supportive environment.
