Bret McKenzie: Oscar gives me sway

Bret McKenzie is going to use his Oscar to help him take more of a leading role over his music pal Jermaine Clement.
Oscar gives McKenzie, right, clout
Bret McKenzie, who picked up an Oscar for Best Original Song, is looking forward to working with his Flight of the Conchords co-star again, making the kind of music that has made them a cult success.

This time however, McKenzie will be looking to take a leading role over Jermaine Clement because now he has 'clout', reported Buzz Sugar.

He explained that he will be able to use the "Oscar card" when he and Clement are composing irreverent songs – if he wants to use a particular chord, then the power of an Academy gong allows him to dictate it.

McKenzie picked up an Oscar for the work he did on the new Muppets movie, which was released last year.

Speaking about writing and composing the song for the film, he said he felt a lot of pressure making the 'music magic' happen.

"A friend of mine said when I got the job of working on the film 'You'll never write another Rainbow Connection,'" he told the online news provider.

"And I said, 'You're right.' And I didn't. Rainbow Connection didn't win an Oscar, but there's no doubt that their song is an absolutely timeless classic, and this song is nothing in comparison.
