Brian May: Queen are different without Freddie Mercury

Electric guitar legend Brian May has admitted Queen are totally different to how they were with Freddie Mercury.
Brian May says Queen are different
Electric guitar hero Brian May has revealed that Queen have become an entirely different band after Freddie Mercury passed away.

May, who came in number 26 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, told BBC 6 Music that they had grown into something altogether new. He was unsure what that exactly meant.

"Are we Queen? in a sense we are but in another sense we never can be," he said.

"We keep getting asked to do things which is great but it's that being Queen thing, I think we'll have to make a film Being Queen, what does it mean?"

He explained that it meant they were an "open book", which was a great thing as it opened up the band to collaboration and creative freedom to explore all sorts of avenues.

His bandmate, the drummer Roger Taylor, recently told Ultimate Classic Rock magazine that it was unlikely Queen would release an album of songs featuring the vocals of Mercury, which were found on unreleased demos.

I've got to tell you, there won't be an album. There's just not enough and the last thing I want to do is have a sort of barrel-scraping exercise," he said.
