Bringing Manx music to students
Manx is a style of music that is native to the Isle of Man, reflecting the Celtic and Norse history of the island.
Laura Rowles, who is currently completing a PhD in Manx music at the University of Liverpool, has taught on the island for a number of years, specialising in piano, violin and vocals.
She has been commissioned by Manx Heritage Foundation to develop the new music book to bring the music to a wider audience, especially students.
"Along with singing the oldest records in Manx musical history involve the fiddle," she told the BBC.
"I am fascinated by the subject and it is great that young musicians on the island will be able to learn more about the subject."
She added that it is quite often used in traditional ghost stories, something which children love.
The book will be free to students who receive lessons through the music service, the BBC reported, made possible through generous funding from the Manx Heritage Foundation.
