Carla Bruni and Pete Doherty make for the most unusual music pairing
It sounds like the most unusual music partnership going, but if rumours are correct, then it appears that France's first lady and the controversial rocker Pete Doherty could be jamming together very soon.
Carla Bruni, who is a former supermodel turned musician, met the singer-songwriter early in July, not long after he had been released from prison where he was serving time for possession of cocaine, reported the Sunday Mirror.
Speaking to the newspaper, Doherty's manager, Andrew Boyd, said: "Pete has got to know Carla, and they have a real connection."
Carla Bruni has produced three albums since becoming a musician, and has subsequently knocked up over two million worldwide sales.
Doherty, who was once seen as one of the brightest British talents going, has had relative success with his former bands The Libertines and Babyshambles but has been plagued by problems with drink and drugs which have denied him bigger successes.
It's believed that they hit it off over their love of music and poetry and are said to be in regular contact with each, discussing possible plans of a duet.
The rock star will perhaps hook up with her when he's over in France later this year to play a series of gigs across the country.
