Chris Cornell 'enjoys the intensity of acoustic shows'
Soundgarden star Chris Cornell has said he enjoys the challenge of playing solo with just his acoustic guitar for company.
In April, the musician is heading out on an acoustic tour across North America and he told Spin he finds the experience more nerve-racking than playing in a band, as every mistake or nuance is amplified.
But Cornell added that he loves the "intimacy" of playing acoustically.
"Once you sit in front of people and start playing songs, it's all on you," he explained.
"No matter what happens, it's entirely your responsibility the entire time. I like that intensity."
He said Soundgarden had never done an MTV Unplugged session as not many of their songs work acoustically so the concept wouldn't be right for them.
Last month, Cornell and the rest of Soundgarden posted on their website that their aim for this year is to record a new album.
They said they had been jamming and writing together in order to explore the creative aspect of being part of the band once again.
Soundgarden said their fans could look forward to hearing some "cool new songs" after they complete their work in the studio.
