Clarence Clemons has passed away at the age of 69
Clarence Clemons, the iconic saxophonist in the E Street Band, passed away last week (June 18th) after suffering a massive stroke. He was 69.
The musician was known for his amazing abilities on the saxophone, playing on tracks like Thunder Road, Born To Run, Dancing in the Dark and Jungleland.
He even featured on Lady Gaga's new album Born This Way, contributing to two of her tracks.
A member of the E Street Band, a music outfit that tours and records with Bruce Springsteen, Clemons was a passionate musician.
Springsteen, who had known the saxophonist for over 40 years, led the tributes to his "great friend".
Writing on his website, he said: "Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him.
"He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage."
He first began to play the saxophone when he was nine-years old after receiving the music instrument for Christmas. He previously revealed he had "flipped out" because he had wanted an electric train.
