Coldplay 'progressing well on new concept album'
Piano player Chris Martin has revealed Coldplay's next record will be a concept album based around the idea of two outsiders going on a difficult journey together.
Speaking to BBC News, Martin explained the yet-to-be-titled LP will work on a more intimate level than the group's last album Viva La Vida, which tackled the themes of love and war.
"It's a concept album but it's supposed to be very personal within a big framework," the piano player stated.
He added he has enjoyed working in the studio with producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs again, after they helped with the recording of Viva La Vida.
Martin explained that the pair work as a production "tag team", with Eno coming up with various creative and experimental ideas before Dravs takes the rough cuts and turns them into releasable songs.
Coldplay are set to play two gigs for charity later this month, appearing in Liverpool and Newcastle on December 19th and 20th respectively in support of Crisis.
They have also been booked for several 2011 festivals, with slots planned at events in Holland, Poland, Belgium and Brazil over the course of next year.
