Creative industries boom in recession, says studio boss
Musicians such as electric guitar players and drummers are becoming increasingly keen to ply their trade throughout the economic slump, a studio engineer has stated.
Ronnie Alford, who also helps advise new artists on how to release their music on iTunes and Amazon, said creative industries tend to thrive during a time of recession.
Speaking to the Tewkesbury Admag, he said this is particularly true in the case of music, partly because it could potentially be quite lucrative.
"People want to make music," Mr Alford commented.
"Recording your own songs to sell digitally via your band website or on hard copy CD can increase the musician's income stream considerably."
Meanwhile, MySpace has launched a new service called the MySpace Artist Dashboard, which allows bands and solo artists to view data about how their content is being consumed.
Musicians will be able to look at where their fans are based, how many plays their songs are receiving and the number of profile views within a certain time period.Posted on 23 Oct 2009 13:00 to category : Instruments News
