Damon Albarn teams up with Flea and Tony Allen
Damon Albarn has put together yet another supergroup, with the Blur frontman now collaborating with Red Hot Chili Peppers bass guitar player Flea and Fela Kuti's drummer Tony Allen.
Speaking to Stuff magazine, Albarn revealed that the trio are three-quarters of the way to finishing a record which will also feature some of his favourite African musicians.
Allen has worked with Albarn in the past in The Good, The Bad & The Queen and the Blur star said their latest project is inspired by the work of the afro beat drummer.
Albarn is also in the process of finishing up the next Gorillaz album as he tours the world with that band.
"I've actually taken a mobile studio with me on this tour, because it's the longest I've been out on the road since … the days of Blur at its peak," he explained.
Gorillaz are due to begin the UK leg of their world tour later this month, with shows planned in Manchester, London and Birmingham.
