Dappy: We quit Def Jam
N-Dubz rapper Dappy has hit out at suggestions that the Brit urban band were dropped by their US record label, claiming it was them that decided to leave.
The pint-sized frontman told the Sun that Def Jam had been trying to remould them into a pop-outfit for the US market, which they refused to do.
The hat-wearing music star, who is known for his frank views, said: "They might say they've dropped us but we were never going to co-operate with them when they decided to change what we are.
"If we had co-operated we would still be signed. But I stuck my finger up at them when they wanted us to make another Being N-Dubz TV show."
He added that Tulisa, who along with Fazer make up the rest of the band, had tried to convince him to stick with it to at least make some money, but he was adamant that he wanted out.
Def Jam responded to the comments by realising the following statement: "N-Dubz have left the Def Jam imprint in the USA due to creative differences over musical direction.
"This was 100 per cent the band's decision and they remain signed to Universal worldwide."
