Dave Grohl: All albums should be as good as Adele's 21
Grohl, frontman of the ever-popular US rock band Foo Fighters, told Billboard that if all artists produced studio albums to a standard like that of Adele's, the music business would be booming.
"Someone asked me recently, 'What do you think the problem with the music industry is?'" he explained.
"I said take the Adele record, for example. It's an amazing record and everybody's so shocked that it's such a phenomenon. I'm not. You know why that record's huge? Because it's [really] good and it's real."
He then added that if all records were just as good as Adele's latest offering – 21 – every single one of them would sell.
"The music business would be on fire," he told the music news provider.
He went on to talk about the future of rock music. Although industry bosses like Jim Chancellor have speculated about guitar-based music's demise, Grohl remained upbeat.
"It's never gone away in my world. Ask the guys in AC/DC whether they think rock'n'roll is dead," he said.
The Foo Fighters are to record a new studio album later this year.
