Dave Grohl: I play guitar like a drummer
Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl has revealed his electric guitar playing secret he thinks like a drummer when playing the instrument.
Grohl first came to public attention in the world of music as the man behind the drum kit in Nirvana before going on to form Foo Fighters and collaborate with a host of other bands on a variety of instruments.
"Your low E string is the kick drum, your A and D are the snare and so when you're writing riffs I use the lower notes as kick and snare and the higher notes as cymbals," he explained.
In December, Grohl told the BBC that his current focus is on his new group Them Crooked Vultures, which also features John Paul Jones, the bass guitar player in Led Zeppelin and Josh Homme, lead singer in Queens of the Stone Age.Posted on 17 Feb 2010 14:00 to category : Instruments News
