Dave Grohl briefly quit Nirvana
Paul Brannigan's This Is A Call: The Life and Times of Dave Grohl, which is released on September 29th, explains that Grohl, who used to play drums for the cult band, left after Cobain slated his skills.
"I heard him talking about how [poor] a drummer I was," Grohl is quoted as saying in the book.
Brannigan goes on to reveal there was a lot of tension within the band, with Grohl and Krist Novoselic on one side and Cobain and his wife Courtney Love on the other.
The author, who used to be editor of Kerrang! believes that had Cobain not taken his own life, the band would probably have still been together, but without Grohl.
He said: "Dave was very aware that Nirvana was Kurt and Krist's band, and that as lifelong friends, they shared a bond which went beyond music.
"At some point I feel that Dave would have parted company with the pair."
