Distortion pedals 'should be able to respond immediately to guitarists'
Electric guitar players who are planning to purchase a distortion pedal have been advised to choose equipment that will be immediately responsive to their needs.
In an advice piece published on the Gibson Lifestyle blog by columnist Ted Drozdowski, he said that musicians who have not purchased one of the devices before need to look out for a number of qualities in the musical equipment.
"If you're new to distortion, think about a pedal that will allow you to dial in exactly the sound you want as quickly as possible when you're on a gig or jamming with friends," he suggested.
Mr Drozdowski added that a guitar pedal box which comes with "more than" distortion, volume and gain tone controls could help musicians achieve the sound they want more easily.
He went on to advise that electric guitar players should experiment with their new distortion pedal as much as possible, even trying out the ultra-low volumes available on it.
Last month, the commentator advised guitarists to gradually build up their pedalboards, coming up with designs that are suitable for their personal playing style as well as providing a versatile range of effects.
