Next month is set to see a music-themed, weekend-spanning occasion dedicated to a famed conductor from Edinburgh, according to the BBC.

A Radio 3 programme featuring the subject of its focus, Donald Runnicles, will apparently begin the Scottish event, which is set to take place over four days starting on the 4th of May.

The start-off radio show, an In Tune episode, is set to go out live with Sean Rafferty as host, says the BBC. Other concerts featuring Runnicles will follow.

Glasgow Music's director Svend Brown has commented on Runnicles' chamber and orchestral skills, as well as his ability to provide music for vocalists very well.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to hear him in action over one weekend in all three guises," he said of the occasion set around the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (SSO) conductor.

The SSO are set to be involved in the weekend, as is movie that looks at Runnicles' conducting technique and has a voice-over from the man himself.

Our "orchestral" section includes such instruments as trombone, cornet, oboe and flute.
