Don't make pre-schoolers into 'young musicians'
Musicalminis.co.uk's managing director Karen Sherr claimed that, instead, kids at this age ought to be being musical for fun.
People should encourage them to engage in musical exploration as a way of helping them to develop as well as getting better social skills.
"I am a firm advocate of learning made fun and certainly for pre-schoolers this should be through play," she said.
"Children have the whole of their school life to learn in the classroom through set methods. Pre-schoolers should be encouraged to explore their environment and learn."
Although it can prove tricky to find the time, she suggested, parents ought to try singing with their little boy or girl as a way of helping with language.
Many people are a little older, having already begun school when they start music instrument lessons, often doing these within the school day through private tuition.
