Doris Day makes pop come back at 87
Doris Day, the all-American girl, is to release a brand new studio album at the age of 87.
As pop comebacks go, the return of Doris Day to our charts is set to be one of the greatest ever.
The Hollywood legend, who first found fame with her 1945 hit Sentimental Journey, will release My Heart at the beginning of September.
My Heart is comprised of previously unreleased tracks, re-mastered hits, cover songs and tracks that were produced by her son Terry Melcher, who passed away in 2004.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, the megastar said she had forgotten all about the recordings.
"It was brought to my attention that the recordings were in storage and Sony was interested in releasing them. So I listened to them and at first had some misgivings, but after they were re-mastered, I liked them."
Also a talented actress, Day is still fondly remembered for her wonderful performance in the 1963 movie musical Calamity Jane.
