Duff McKagan quits Addiction
Duff McKagan has left Jane's Addiction after just five months.
The former Guns 'N' Roses bass player cited "musical differences" as the motivation behind his decision to leave the US rock group, despite working on material for their first album in seven years and playing a number of shows with the band.
The group - which features singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins - released a statement, saying: "Hey, we wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record. We love the songs we worked on with him - and the gigs were a blast - but musically we were all headed in different directions.
"From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him all the best."
Jane's Addiction have worked with a number of bass players during their career, including founding member Eric Avery and Red Hot Chili Peppers member Flea, although it is not known who will now join the group.
Duff has previously released a number of solo records and starred in a supergroup called Neurotic Outsiders with Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, but now plans to concentrate on his other band, Loaded, who have just completed an album and are presently looking for a record deal.
Posting on twitter, Perry wrote: "Jane's wishes Duff much luck with his band Loaded. What a fun time we all had working together. Look out for his record and tour this fall."Posted on 7 Sep 2010 16:30 to category : Music News
